IRENE SEIJO BA (Hons) Landscape Architecture MA Public Art & Design

Irene is an experienced project manager and landscape professional with 25 years experience in regeneration, public realm, planning and development. She is also a qualified ‘Space-Shaper’ facilitator and a BETA facilitator.
As Operations Director for Groundwork in London, she was responsible for many high profile projects in South London – managing staff, consultants and contractors as well as being responsible for funding and budgets. She gained a comprehensive understanding of community engagement that encourages environmental, social and economic regeneration.
Following Groundwork, she became Green & Blue Grid Manager for Ashford’s Future, the role required her to understand and implement Green Infrastructure projects that exploited the potential of the network of rivers and landscapes in the Ashford Growth Area. At Design South East, she has worked with the Crafts Council & the Arts Council on arts & urban design projects that aimed to encourage distinctive place making in areas of proposed regeneration. Irene led a very successful Place Making Project with parish councils for Maidstone Borough Council to support their Local Plan.
Irene has been a freelance consultant for seven years now and formed Seijo Associates Ltd four years ago. Irene has recently been appointed as a Design Council ‘Built Environment Expert’ and is regularly commissioned to sit on Design Review Panels for assessing new development. She is also a South East in Bloom Judge and former Green Flag Judge.
